"For many, fitness has become an integral part of everyday life."
Jan Daly Eaton, Director of Marketing and Residents Services
People may be surprised to learn of the high demand for fitness opportunities amongst seniors. Day-to-day life at RiverMead can be as active as one wishes.Ongoing resident feedback confirms that having a diverse fitness program, on campus and at no additional cost, motivates them to continue their pursuit of health and wellness. Residents also take advantage of all the recreational opportunities in the Monadnock region…kayaking, biking, hiking and golf. We have installed a Golf Swing Practice Net (that hides underground when not in use!) for residents to practice their swing. RiverMead provides residents with Guest Passes to our local Peterborough Golf Course, while many residents enjoy our croquet green (with ongoing games and tournaments). Last year we purchased four resident bicycles, available at the bike racks on both The Village and Mead campuses. This year we have added a Men's Endurance and Strength class. Other classes offered have included Yoga, Zumba®, strength training, endurance and balance.

Fitness and The Master Plan-
As we conducted our market research for our master planning project, we found that seniors have a strong desire to continue and be involved in their personal fitness. Among the priorities is an increased emphasis on overall wellness and social opportunities, and state-of-the art facilities and equipment.
This information, along with our resident feedback and expert input, guided us as we embark on the addition of a two-story,
3000 square foot fitness center on our Mead campus. Our new fitness center will include:
- Cardio equipment, free weights, muscle strengthening equipment
- A yoga/exercise studio and stretching area
- 50 x 17 foot heated indoor pool
- Certified personal trainers
- Fully appointed locker rooms
