Meet our Director of Human Resources: Carrie James

Back to all news

Hello! My name is Carrie James, and I am the new Director of Human Resources at RiverMead. I started working here in July with Dianne Tisdale so that we could seamlessly transition in support of her retirement.  My role is to plan, direct and manage all human resources functions including employee relations, benefits and compensation, recruitment and retention, and training and professional development.

What is important to me is collaborating with managers and individual departments to identify and provide resources and systems that support their ongoing needs; and sharing information with employees so that they fully understand their pay and benefits at all stages of their careers and can utilize their benefits to best support their needs and individual professional growth.

I have a master’s degree in HR management and an undergraduate degree in psychology. Prior to joining RiverMead I was at the ConVal School District and have spent most of my professional career leading and providing human resource support in school districts for over 20 years. I am excited to take this step into a different industry, continue to learn and grow personally and professionally, and positively contribute to the culture and climate in support of all that RiverMead has to offer.

I always try to work in a place that produces or supports something meaningful which is why I chose to work at RiverMead. I love spending time with my family and friends and have two kids who are in college. I have a dog at home who is excited every time I walk in the door and loves going for walks.  I am thrilled to be working here, managing our HR department and connecting with employees.
