Meet our Executive Chef: Chris O’Leary

Back to all news

Hi, my name is Chris O’Leary, and I joined the RiverMead culinary team as the Executive Chef.  I started working in the culinary industry when I was just 11 years old in the back of a deli. Since then, I have spent 30 years in the hospitality industry at country clubs in New England, New York, North Carolina, and South Florida. I have cooked for over 500 weddings, and I have spent countless hours in all types of culinary work. The community at RiverMead has welcomed me with open arms, and I am happy to be on board.

I chose the culinary profession because I have always loved food and working in hospitality.  I started working in food service at a young age and loved it. I loved the stress, fast pace, and joy that food brings to people.  I love watching people enjoy my food and the comradery it brings. Food is one of the most excellent communication tools out there, and being a chef not only allows me to express myself creatively in the kitchen and go out and sit down with my customers and speak to them face to face. I am devoted to preparing a satisfying meal for everyone, with lots of love and care put into every single one of my dishes.

I love creating connections with residents and sitting down and getting to know everyone in our RiverMead community. I can see that the staff really care about their jobs, which is a breath of fresh air in an industry that is very fast-paced. I enjoy getting to know staff and residents alike and always find things we can relate to.

I’m very excited to be at RiverMead and to meet all these wonderful people. I hope to make great connections to continue to build great relationships with my coworkers, our residents, and anyone else who comes through our doors, in addition to creating some delicious meals and memories.
